In 2003, District 23 adopted the Zonta Birthing Kit project. This project involves clubs arranging birthing kit assembly days to put together simple clean birthing kits that are sent to help birthing assistants in developing countries. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEvery hour 33 women die of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth.  An estimated 385,000 women die annually in childbirth, many from preventable infections. These kits are working to reduce these numbers.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eGalen's House Captains are working to raise awareness of this cause.
